There’s something about this time of year that makes me all nostalgic. It’s got me thinking about years past where The Husband and I would box up his Christmas orders and be working till 3.30am to make sure all the turkey and deliveries went out on time – back in the day when Eat Great Meat really was a one man (and willing woman) operation.
This year, as in years past, the Farm Fresh Turkeys are from Ron Wartig’s Pule Hill Farm, just a cock (turkey?) stride from The Husband’s farm, where they enjoy space to roam which results in excellent tasting meat! Last year, we opted for a full beef fillet for our Christmas meal, but this year we are going to go really traditional and have turkey. I have it on good authority that they cook beautifully and don’t dry out especially when they are coated in some of our homemade streaky bacon. We have traditional white turkeys as bronze and also crowns available for those who don’t want the leg meat. For those who prefer boneless turkey we have the turkey butterflies available and there is also the option to have a farm fresh duck or goose if you are looking for something different this year. Turkey will be available in the shop if you’re local so you can always pop into Wortley Farm Shop and have a sandwich and sample the merchandise before the big day.
I hope everyone has a lovely week planned.
X, The Wife.
